Used to extend the distance between two serial devices, this extension cable has a male 9 pin d-sub (aka DB9) plug on one end and a female version on the other. Some uses of a serial extension cable include interfacing GPS, plotters, fish finders and depth sounders to a computer system. Ever tried to park your boat in your computer room?
