Product Description:

The Snap-In Disk Array is the Addonics latest removable drive system that enable installing as many as five 3.5" hard drives into three 5.25" drive bays on any Desktop PC, Tower or 4U Rack mount system. The hard drive can be added into the Snap-In Disk Array by simply sliding the hard drive into one of the drives slots and closing the drive door, just like using a VHS cassette. To remove the hard drive, simply open the drive door and the hard drive will automatically be ejected.

The Snap-In Disk Array also increases the number of hard drives that can be installed into many systems. or storage chassis such as the Addonics family of Storage Tower. Together with Addonics Port Multiplier, you can create a powerful RAID storage with large storage capacity, drive redundancy for reliability and high performance in a compact 3-bay drive enclosure like the Addonics Storage Tower III.

Product features

  • Install up to five 3.5 SATA or SAS hard drives into three 5 1/4" drive bay stack
  • Drive is added and removed directly from the Disk Array without any tool
  • Point to point connection
  • High throughput up to 600 MB/sec with SATA 3.0 or SAS 2.0 drive
  • Full Serial ATA 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, SAS 1.0 and 2.0 compliant
  • Sturdy steel metal construction
  • Optional 2.5 drive adapter (model: AE25SN35SA)
  • Short circuit protection
  • Dual high CFM and low noise cooling fans
  • Use as an external RAID system (require optional external power adapters)
  • Hot swap support when connects to SATA port with this feature
  • Power and drive activity LED for each hard drive slot
*While the Snap-In Disk Array is capable of fitting into three 5 1/4" drive bay stack on a desktop tower, seating from the metal bracket may cause possible obstruction for insertion of the Snap-In Disk Array Click here for more information.

(1) Serial ATA hot swap feature works only with controllers basing on Silicon Image chip set from our inhouse testing. Other controllers that are not Silicon Image based may not support hot swap. You may consider adding one of the Addonics Serial ATA host controllers to your systems to ensure the hot swap capability. New controllers from Intel and other suppliers may finally support this feature. Please verify with your controller manufacturer if you need to have hot swap in your application. Hot swap is supported in Windows 2000 and XP only. On other OS, drive can be removed without crashing system. But replacing with a different drive can result in crashing the OS.

Product Description:

5 Port SATA HPM-XA System Version
Package content:
5 Port HPM-XA on standard height PCI bracket, low profile PCI bracket, Y power cable, Driver CD with configuration and monitor software utility, User Guide

This new 5-Port HPM XA is a feature rich Hardware Port Multiplier that enables connecting up to 5 SATA drives to any SATA port. It is a perfect solution for attaching several hard drives as individual drive or as a RAID volume with redundancy to a Desktop or Server. This HPM can also be used to connect 5 SATA optical drives such as DVD-RRW or Blu-Ray drives to do simultaneous data copying. Configuration can be set via a set of onboard dip switches or the included software utility under Windows OS. Drive and the HPM status can be visually monitored by attaching LEDs to the onboard LED signal pin headers or via the bundled monitoring software. Any drive failure or RAID error can be notified via audible alert from the on board buzzer and email to an SMTP account.

The 5-Port HPM XA comes in choice with the system version or the enclosure version. The system version enables multiple hard drives inside a system to be connected together to form a RAID volume or use as individual drives. The enclosure version fits perfectly into the Addonics family of Storage Tower, Storage Rack and many standard multi-bay enclosures with standard SCSI-1 connector cut out. The 5 hard drives inside the drive enclosure, once configurated, can be attached to any computer via high speed eSATA connection or USB 3.0 by attaching the optional Addonics USB 3.0 - eSATA adapter .
