The Belkin WeMo Switch + Motion, the iPhone home remote and motion sensor, work together to let you use motion to turn almost anything in your house on or off. Have a light go on when you enter a room, have a fan go off when you leave.
 
A heater, a lamp, your stereo, you name itif you can plug it in, you can control it with WeMo Motion. You can even have it guard the door at night. With the free WeMo app, you tell WeMo Switch and Motion what to do when motion is sensed. WeMo is completely modular, so you can control as much or as little of your house as you like. And you can control it all from anywhere.
