After about 5M HDMI signals tend to degrade. Pixels get missed and you may notice artefacts known as 'sparkles' on your TV when the receiving unit simply can't re-assemble the digital data correctly. These amplified HDMI leads overcome this limitation allowing you much longer HDMI cable runs for home or AV setups in bars, foyers, etc. They accomplish this feat with a built-in equaliser that boosts signal strength without the use of a power supply.
