To protect the hard drives from being easily removed or the ultra-compact unit from being stolen the WD Sentinel DX4200 has multiple layers of physical and software security upgrades. The front panel is equipped with a sturdy bezel lock to prevent access without a key and the unit comes equipped with a Kensington style lock to secure it directly to a desk or permanent surface.
When powered up the BIOS creates a secure UEFI boot environment to prevent unauthorized access to your company data by preventing booting from root kits. The Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Workgroup OS also contains layers of security by managing users locally with multiple levels of access, as well as being fully integrated into and existing Active Directory.
Flexibility with Windows Storage Spaces
With Windows Storage Spaces, you can create large storage spaces and add more drives to them when you run low on pool capacity. With the minimum of at least two WD populated drives you can have two or more drives in the storage pool (data parity) and create storage spaces that wont be affected in the event of a drive failure.
Convenient Pre-loaded Boot Drive
WD understands that time is money so this unit comes with a 2.5 inch boot drive pre-loaded with Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Workgroup as well as specialized hardware services and drivers and the option to add a second boot drive with RAID 1 data redundancy. The pre-loaded drives provide the ability to keep the OS running directly from the boot drive while redeploying or changing applications and running folders on the large capacity data drives. This also eliminates the need to install from a DVD or search for any specialized drivers online, getting back to business quicker and easier.

All units are equipped with dual power supply ports, so in the event of a power surge or other failure damage to the internal power supply, the second power supply will take over.
