D-Link`s DFE-538TX Fast Ethernet adapter is a high-performance auto-sensing 10⁄100Mbps dual-speed adapter for the PCI bus with Wake-On-LAN (WOL) feature - a power management function that supports sleep mode and power-on control from remote location. Designed to be installed in a PC equipped with PCI bus slots, this adapter turns a desktop into a high-bandwidth graphic⁄multimedia workstation running at full-duplex.

Powerful Performance
This adapter operates in the 32-bit Bus Master mode, delivering throughput of multi-megabits per second with little stress on the host CPU. Supporting PCI clock speeds independently of the network clock, it transfers data directly to⁄from the host memory, by-passing the CPI to alleviate the host workload.

Easy Migration
The dual-speed capability allows users to migrate from Ethernet to Fast Ethernet in easy steps. 10Base-T users can upgrade to 100Base-TX anytime without changing driver software.

Remote Boot Support for Network Security
Network administrators can install optional boot ROMs on the adapters to implement network security. Diskless workstations equipped with these ROMs can remote boot from NetWare or Windows NT and many other servers to access only authorized data.

Auto-sensing 10⁄100Mbps Interface
The adapter`s single connector connects to either 10Base-T Ethernet or 100Base-TX Fast Ethernet completely without any need to set configuration. It detects the connected hub or switch capability and auto-negotiates to use the highest available speed.

Half and Full Duplex Support
Half⁄Full duplex operation is auto-detected in both 10Base-T and 100Base-TX environment. When connected to a switch in full-duplex, the network speed can be increased to 20Mbps or 200Mbps, making the adapter ideal for high-speed server deployment

Wake-On-LAN for Power Management
Wake-On-LAN (WOL) is an Advanced Configuration Power Interface (ACPI) function allowing a powered OFF computer to be powered ON from a remote station. This function allows the administrator to send wake-up signals to a computer. The WOL function provides a great utility for power management of the PC and allows users to initiate action at irregular times and from distant locations.
