Logitech Harmony 1000i

I recently bought one of these units after my Philips Pronto gave up the ghost and I have to say that Logitech may have a real Pronto killer on their hands with the 1000i. This remote is amazing to say the least. The look and feel of the unit exudes high quality. The 3.5" colour screen is gorgeous to behold and is very touch sensitive. The hard buttons to the right-hand side of the screen also glow a soft blue when the remote is picked up. There is nothing cheap or plasticky about this baby! Programming the remote is done utilizing Logitechs website, therefore a broadband connection is a must. You simply enter the makes and model numbers of all your gear and after answering some questions about how these devices are used, the website uploads all of the codes into the handset. Some folks find this method of programming to be tedious in the extreme, all I will say is that patience is a virtue. For mine, the results are definitely worthwhile. Its up to you how simple or complex you want to make this remote control operate, you can really tweak it to a very fine degree. All of the hard buttons are programmable and you can add, rename or delete as many on-screen buttons as you like. I have probably spent some 20hrs fiddling with the different options, but have now got it perfect for my application. If you are less demanding, an hour or two may be all that is necessary to achieve what you require from it. All up, this is a brilliant bit of kit, well done Logitech. Highly recommended!
