Flexible Wireless LAN Connectivity
The small form factor DWL-3140AP provides secure client access that supports the new wireless functionality of the DES-1228P Web Smart Switch. Installation of multiple DWL-3140APs increases client mobility within a network. Each DWL-3140AP continually tunes itself for optimal RF channel to provide all mobile clients with the best wireless signal.
Power over Ethernet
DWL-3140APs can link to DES-1228Ps directly or through the existing wired network - even across Layer 3 boundaries* - and receive Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) from directly connected DES-1228Ps or PoE injectors.
Centralized Configuration and Easy Installation
The DES-1228P Web Smart Switch can apply pre-set configurations to every connected DWL-3140AP. If a DWL-3140AP needs to be replaced, the replacement DWL-3140AP can be configured with the same configuration through the switch literally in seconds. These DWL-3140APs intentionally resemble smoke detectors to minimize visibility. With no protruding antennas and no obvious hallmarks of an AP, DWL-3140APs are less likely to be tampered with.
Continuous Channel Scanning To Prevent Rogue APs*
DWL-3140APs play a key role in rogue detection they continuously scan their associated wireless channels to root out rogues while simultaneously providing wireless connectivity to mobile clients. If a rogue AP is detected, the closest DWL-3140AP can launch RF countermeasures by spoofing 802.11 control messages. This prevents clients from communicating, associating, and authenticating with a rogue AP.
Increases User Productivity
For important wireless transmissions such as VoIP related applications, DWL-3140APs also deliver critical user-based services, such as prioritized delivery of voice traffic. Supporting multiple queues per user, DWL-3140APs always prioritize expedited traffic such as voice calls, before servicing three other levels of traffic in priority order.
