A Painless Introduction to Label Printers

If youre not sure how much use a label printer will be to you and your budget is tight, this little printer is a must-buy. Neat and attractive, I installed it without any fuss on my PC running Windows XP. It has its own printing software which has an auto fit feature. Specify a font size too big for the label and it simply scales the whole page to fit - readjusting the sizing as you edit. So simple, but magic to watch and it saves time. Also, with the range of Brother media available, you can auto detect the size of label loaded in the printer - so no checking or guessing is needed. Printing is quick and quiet as well as producing a clean, sharp and professional result. The manual cutter is effortless and, with die-cut labels, only gets used once per session in my place (one strip of labels is easier keep track of). Im only doing 200 to 300 address labels a month, but even with the cost of label stationery, its paying its way. The software has other features, such as plug-ins for Word and Excel, that we havent tried (yet). We havent needed to play around - we just use it. (I will admit Im itching for an excuse to try the continuous stationery!) Its only been a couple of months - but I can say that a label printer is now a permanent component of the computer equipment I run - and this little printer is doing the job quite nicely. Of the label printers I checked out, the QL550W scored high, particularly on price/performance - with the only detractor being there were no reviews that I could find, which is why Ive written this one. I reckon the regular price is good value, but when hunting around, I found Techbuy easily had the best price on the printer itself as well as being very competitive on the label stationery. So that’s where I spent my money and I’m happy!
