The ST4-SB3 is equipped with two types of high-speed interfaces, and can be used as a 6G 3.5"/2.5" high-speed SATA hard drive. When using the e-SATA interface, transmission speeds can reach 476MB/s, while transmission speeds for the USB3.0 interface are 386MB/s. These two types of interfaces achieve high transmission speeds at lower cost, making them suitable for high-speed image processing or image galleries with large capacity requirements.

ST4-SB3 is compatible with a range of 6TB SATA hard drive brands. When used with a RAID card in RAID 0 mode, installing four 6TB hard drives allows the system to provide up to 24TB of storage space from a single drive; with a RAID card in RAID 5 mode, the ST4-SB3 can provide secure storage space of 18TB, ensuring the safety of your important data at all times.

The ST4-SB3 beats any compact four drive systems with its seamless, 3.5mm thick full aluminum built body that’s robust to withstand the most demanding of use. Compact to suit any desktop environment
 
Although the ST4 holds up to four 3.5/2.5 inch drives and includes a 200 watt power supply, the overall size (approx. 6.5 inches tall x 5 inches wide) of the enclosure is compact and will not take up much room of your desktop space. Moreover, the system is equipped with a large quiet fan for continuous drawing away heat from the inside of the system for you drive to run comfortably.

Able to recognize four hard drives with just one e-SATA cable
 
ST4-SB3's e-SATA allows for port multiplication. A single port can support four large capacity hard drives, allowing the user to directly view all four drives. This is very convenient for users who use a single hard drive as their image gallery, as they can easily swap hard drives without cabling issues. If you need to access a lot of image and video galleries, you can change the entire image gallery by swapping hard drives, as simple as changing a DVD.
 
[When using the e-SATA interface, the ST4-SB3 supports hot swappable hard drives, meaning you can directly swap hard drives when the power is on, as simple as changing a CD.When swapping hard drives make sure the hard drive is not in read or write mode.]
 
Never run out of hard drive space
 
As your iPhoto library grows, it may become too big to store on your computer’s hard drive. Aperture lets you set up as many external drives as you want and specify where to store each of your photos — without changing anything in your Aperture library. You can access and edit your photos the way you usually do, no matter where the originals are stored. This feature also allows you to add hard drives one at a time, whenever you need them. Why not combine an ES2-P2 with the ST4-SB3 and use Mac OS RAID utility to set up RAID 0?
 
Every ES2-P2 port supports transmission speeds of up to 6G/s. By using Mac OS RAID utility to set up RAID 0 from four hard drives, the user can achieve transmission speeds of around 468MB/s, making video editing much easier.
 
 
 
 
 
The new ST4-SB3 hard drive tray can now handle 2.5" SSD/HDD hard drives.

To transfer video captured from a Blackmagic Production Camera 4K to a mobile SSD, you can directly install the SSD on to the ST4's hard drive tray, and then connect it to a computer to perform editing or color correction on captured video directly. The hard disk can be formatted to be compatible with Mac HFS+ or Windows exFAT.
