This latest Addonics 6G Rack Mount Port Multiplier (PM) connects up to 5 SATA hard drives or SSD to a computer using one eSATA connection at SATA III speed of 6Gbps. The PM is mounted on a rack-mount bracket that fits perfectly into the Addonics family of Storage Tower and many standard drive enclosure with SCSI-I (Centronic 50) punch out. The
five drives connected to this PM appears as individual drives to the
OS when connecting to a PM compatible eSATA port on a computer. The five
drives can be set up as a single RAID volume using the RAID utility of
the OS or the host controller. When multiple PMs are combined with
Addonics 4-Port eSATA controller, you can attach to many Desktop or server computer a whopping 20 SATA hard drives to your computer via one host controller!
The 6G Rack Mount Port Multiplier can be installed onto a standard add-on card slot with an optional PCI Converter Bracket (PCISCBKT), allowing any desktop PC case to be used as a hard drive storage chassis.
