The Tandberg Data Viking Series of Network Attached Solutions (NAS) is designed with this in mind and provides storage expansion, rapid file access and convenient file sharing for high data availability, fast recovery, data protection and easy data management.

The Viking FS-800U NAS offers a 2U form-factor for rack optimized environment and supports up to 8 Hard disks using universal SAS 3GB or SATA II connectivity. Powered by Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 (WSS 2003 R2) or Microsoft Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003 (WUSS 2003), and optimized for storage-specific management and applications, the all new Tandberg Viking FS-800U NAS ensures ease of deployment, flexibility and seamless integration into customers network environments. Users familiar with the Windows environment will find it very easy to configure the Viking NAS. WSS 2003 R2 comes with an unlimited number of Client Access Licenses. All file sharing protocols, such as CIFS/SMB, NFS, AppleTalk, DFS, HTTP&FTP and Storage report manager, are supported.

Ease of Deployment

The Tandberg Viking FS-800U NAS is easy to deploy. The Tandberg Viking FS-800UNAS is easy to deploy without drastic reconfigurations for the network for file-level or block-level access. It allows users to customise different RAID levels for protecting the OS partition. In the event the Viking FS-800 NAS needs to be restored, the recovery DVD brings the Viking FS-800U NAS back to factory default in minutes.

Easy Integration of Backup and Archiving

The Viking FS-800U NAS allows direct connection to tape drives, autoloaders or libraries through it's Ultra320 SCSI controller. This makes it the perfect device to further enhance data protection and offline staging for restores or archiving. The Viking FS-800U NAS can be implemented as a tiered storage device, a backup server or a centralised file sharing device.
