Great chassis for a specific purpose
I wanted a chassis that could be both small and contain 6 hard disk drives for a server/nas at home. There really were just two options on the market in the m-ITX form factor that were around this size.
Lian-Li cases arent cheap and that is why Im picking on noise as a negative for this case. It isnt the 6 drives that are making the noise, and the motherboard and cpu have no active cooling components and are completely noiseless. All the rattles and noise come from the two system fans and power supply.
The noise comes from the rattle of metal on metal contact, rather than the spin of the fans, so I am sure a couple of rubber mounts will fix that. That should be easy enough to fix, but its something I just expect a case around the $200 mark to already have (it does have hdd grommets).
Aside from that, the machine is running on a low power cpu/motherboard with all 6 drive bays populated. The biggest unexpected plus is that the hard disks are reporting a 10C lower temperature than they did in the previous case, which only contained 4 drives.
So plus points, which outweight the slightly annoying rattle by far, are: 1) excellent cooling, 2) looks great in red rather than the rather boring beige/black, 3) plenty of space to work in, and 4) compact... really compact.
