A Complete Backup Solution
Get extra security and increase data portability by backing up your LaCie d2 Network 2 on your own schedule to an external hard drive through its USB and eSATA ports using the built-in copy system. The LaCie d2 Network 2 also comes with Genie Backup Manager Pro for Windows and Intego Backup Manager Pro for Mac to install on each PC/Mac for client backups to the NAS. This software lets you reliably and efficiently back up your documents, emails, settings, or other digital assets; it supports compressed, encrypted, or image backups and initiates a computer recovery program in case of general crash. Also, the LaCie d2 Network 2 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, including Time Machine, making it an ideal partner for your Mac.
Eco Management
The LaCie d2 Network 2 helps you to reduce power consumption by switching to idle mode (where the disk spins off) after a determined inactivity time. Also, you can schedule a deep sleep on/off mode according your needs. Thanks to the Wake-on-LAN feature, the d2 Network 2 can be switched back to operating mode from the client side. In addition, it also integrates UPS support** through its USB port to ensure proper shutdown in case of power failure. On top of that, its exclusive aluminum fanless heat sink design makes it your ecological partner— it's recyclable and ROHS-compliant.
A Truly User-Friendly Interface
The LaCie NAS OS 2.0 represents a significant update to its line of network-attached storage (NAS) devices. It features a simplified graphical user interface, the Dashboard. The LaCie NAS OS 2.0 Dashboard offers unprecedented ease of use and a quick learning curve, even for NAS novices. Its customizable, widget-based navigation system lets you focus on the tasks you use most, and minimize those you don't.
USB Direct Connection
You can connect your d2 Network 2 directly to your computer through a USB cable to access a dedicated USBShare folder of up to 500GB like a normal external hard drive. This unique feature allows you to gain extra flexibility and mobility for customized usage. So you'll be able to format this USB Share in your preferred file system using your computer.
Remote Access
With Automatic Port Forward, you can take advantage of UPnP-IGD/NAT-PMP compatible routers and easily access your d2 Network 2 remotely. With the Dynamic IP integration you can create your own Internet address for your NAS. Thanks to its advanced file browser based in Ajaxplorer you can also easily see, download and use your documents stored in your LaCie d2 Network 2.
