Good product - suspect QA
I recently bought an NB5 modem and endured about 3 weeks of problems. The damn thing just wouldnt connect. After being told by Netcomm support that the modem was OK (on the basis that the lights lit up), all other possible causes were investigated. This took a lot of peoples time and cost who knows how much. In the end the problem was tracked to the modem issuing a disconect instruction, just as it would if it has a super short timeout. Timeout wasnt the problem but another call to Netcomm (and endure their irritating call centre announcements) got through to someone who knew what they were doing. Also, Netcomm seemed to have had a few complaints inthe last few weeks. The problem is that the early NB5 have a fault in their firmware and ned to be upgraded to "2+". If the one you are looking at does not have a "2+" sticker on the bottom, near the serial number plate, then it needs an upgrade. How any company can release a product without ensuring the basic functions work properly is beyond me. It makes me wonder what other problems are lurking behind their very evidently very poor QA.

Good Product
Easy to use interface and harware works very well. Only problem is the interface for the QoS page is not done very well and seems as though it was slapped together at the end for an extra feature. There is also very little documentation as to how to use the QoS so there is no way of knowing that it was set up correctly. Overall a good adsl modem and Im sure that there will be a firmware update to fix the problem with the QoS, as well as some documentation for using this feature.
