When it comes to superior paper handling, the BJC-5500 has few rivals. It has the paper handling to satisfy almost every one in the office -from accountant to artist, and engineer to receptionist - for colour proofs, CAD, everyday correspondence, displays and spreadsheets. Its appeal is further broadened by the fact that the BJC-5500 can be either an exceptional four-colour, CMYK printer - or an extremely fast B&W printer.
Tractor feed as standard
It comes with a tractor feed as standard to accept continuous form (computer paper), as well as a manual paper feed that will accept sizes up to A2, or envelopes.
Two cut-sheet feeds
You can add up to two optional cut-sheet feed trays, for letterhead and standard paper, or almost any other combination. Each bin is capable of holding up to 100 A4 sheets or 10 envelopes. And the bins will automatically feed paper in sizes up to A2.
Super fast, super quiet
The BJC-5500 comes with two print heads as standard. One is the high speed BC-20 black ink cartridge with 128 print nozzles. Printing up to 694 character per second (at 10 cpi), the BJC-5500 offers users the speed of fast dot matrix printers, without the noise. Automatic text smoothing gives your correspondence or CAD work a laser-like finish.
Four colour printing
The other standard ink cartridge with the BJC-5500 is the four colour (CMYK) BC-21. The inks are designed to give you outstanding 720 dpi colour on plain paper.
Excellent operating economy
Both the black and colour (CMY) inks are separately replaceable for much lower running costs. Even better, the BC-20 combines a large ink tank with a 180 dpi draft mode. This allows it to print up to 1800 pages from a single cartridge (output by cartridge may vary based on operating conditions).
Multiple settings
Naturally drivers are available for DOS®, Windows® 3.1x⁄95 and Windows NT, and a serial interface option is also available. The BJC-5500 will also accept a variety of presets for pitch and character for those who wish to use it as a dedicated printer for large spreadsheets.
Paper versatility
The BJC-5500 accepts a wide variety of paper types including plain, glossy, fabric sheets and overhead transparencies. And Canon offers three types of special A3 and A2 media - Bubble Jet® Paper (LC-301), High Gloss Film (HG-101) and Back Print Film (BF-102) designed for light box displays.
