It’s got a built in laser barcode reader that can read codes up to 60 cm away or CCD. It’s easy to use, easy to program (with the free windows-based application generator), efficient to use and comes with a low price. If you want the extra control the application generator can’t offer, you can program in BASIC or C, or we can do it for you. It’s compact and light enough to fit in your pocket. Cipherlab designed it to be energy efficient, the 711 runs up to 100 hours on standard AAA batteries (it comes with rechargeable batteries also). It has a 4 line, 16 character back-lit display, and has a chioce of 1MB or 2MB of memory - practical for most data collection tasks. It is equipped with Infra Red communications which eliminates the need for cables and makes the unit more reliable.
