The Samsung AX60 has 3-Way Air Flow and Wall Placement The Front Air Inflow design draws air into the unit from the front. This design ensures the purifier operates with equal effectiveness even when you place it directly against a wall. The Dual Power Fan then purifies large living spaces quickly in all directions
The Laser PM Sensor and Display Behaviour The integrated Laser PM Sensor automatically monitors air quality in real time by detecting gaseous contaminants and dust particles smaller than 1.0 micrometre. The numeric display shows exact concentration levels for PM10, PM2.5, and PM1.0. PM stands for Particulate Matter, which refers to particle size in micrometers. PM10 particles are approximately one-fifth of the diameter of a human hair, PM2.5 particles are approximately one-twentieth, and PM1.0 particles are approximately one-fiftieth. A human hair has a diameter of 50 to 70 micrometers.
The display shows PM10 levels by default. When you press the Air Quality button, the display cycles through PM10, PM2.5, and PM1.0. The PM2.5 and PM1.0 levels display for 10 seconds before the screen automatically reverts to showing the PM10 level. The air quality will register as "Very Poor" if the PM2.5 or PM1.0 levels are worse than the PM10 level
The 4-Colour Indicator automatically changes to show air quality levels
- Blue (Good): PM10 concentration of 30 and below, PM2.5/1.0 of 15 and below, or gas level 1
- Green (Moderate): PM10 concentration of 31 to 80, PM2.5/1.0 of 16 to 35, or gas level 2
- Yellow (Poor): PM10 concentration of 81 to 150, PM2.5/1.0 of 36 to 75, or gas level 3
- Red (Very Poor): PM10 concentration of 151 and over, PM2.5/1.0 of 76 and over, or gas level 4
Environmental Factors Affecting Sensor Readings Certain household activities and environmental conditions can cause temporarily high particulate readings. These factors include the use of humidifiers, electric pressure cookers, or sprayers in the same room. Proximity to loose window frames, fur rugs, construction sites, fabric sofas, or vacuum cleaner use can also alter dust readings. Nearby electromagnetic waves or electrical noise can also temporarily increase PM level readings
Filter Performance and Lifespan The activated carbon filter removes harmful gases. Tests conducted on the AX80K7580WFD model showed the filtration of xylene, benzene, ethylbenzene, styrene, and formaldehyde gases. The filter media has over 99.97% dust collection efficiency based on a particle size of 0.26 micrometres, and captures up to 99.97% of 0.3 micrometre ultra-fine dust. You should expect to replace the compatible CFX-D100/GB filter every 6 to 12 months, assuming the air purifier is not operating 24 hours a day
