28x advanced zoom (20x optical zoom)
 
 
Legria HF R26 features Advanced Zoom that utilizes both optical and digital zoom with no loss of quality. Spherical aberration is minimized with a single aspherical lens.

Decoration
 
 
Superimposes decorations added by user through the touch panel onto the images and then records the resulting images. Users can select decoration settings using pen & stamp, animation, date / time & title or image mix (mixed image selection).

Ratings function
 
Evaluate the scenes shot with a rating. Rating can be set in the shooting mode or playback mode. Scenes can be played back or deleted by screening the rated scenes. Also applicable in Video snapshot and story creator function.

Audio mix playback
 
Mixes recorded sound and background music and plays back the mixed sound. The mix balance level can be set to any one of 15 steps.

Recording check
 
Plays back the last 4 seconds of the image after recording is completed

HDMI 1080p output
 
HDMI can be set to output 1080p video footage and still images for playback on 1080p compatible HDTVs


 
Smart Auto mode with tele macro
 
 
Automatically recognizes the type of scene and subjects you're shooting based on the presence of people, distance to subjects, brightness, colour, and motion information. Smart auto shooting mode function entrust detailed settings to the camcorder, similar to the shooting modes already available in Canon's range of PowerShot & Digital IXUS cameras. New addition to Smart Auto mode (Auto tele macro) is activated automatically when the camcorder is in telephoto zoom and focused on nearby subjects, resulting in sharp close-up subject with a beautiful background blur.

Touch screen colour LCD with new touch features
 
 
Face detection, Touch & Track, Touch focus and touch exposure functions use screen touch operation to replace the operations previously carried out via a joystick. This ensures that users not miss any shooting opportunities and have unrestricted choice of subject composition.

Down-conversion to standard definition
(convert HD to SD)
 
Convert HD videos to Standard definition (SD) directly from the camcorder itself. The resulting SD videos can be burned directly to DVD or uploaded to the internet.

Relay recording function
 
When the built-in memory becomes full, the camcorder automatically switches to SD cards as the recording media. No need to worry about missing the action when media is switched.

Image stabilizer Dynamic mode
 
Image stabilizer in the new camcorders features Dynamic mode, which compensates for heavy hand-shakes not only during wide angle shooting, but also during maximum telephoto.

Dual Shot mode
 
With the new dual shot mode, you are ready to video or take photograph anytime by pressing on the respective buttons. In this mode the camcorder optimize the settings based on shooting conditions, so you will get your best quality results, be it photos or movies.

DIGIC DV III for improved image quality signal processing
 
Created to specifically meet the high demands of high definition recording, the new DIGIC DV III gives you enhanced picture performances of better colour reproduction and noise reduction. DIGIC DV III ensures the optimal output in both movies and high-resolution stills, even during simultaneous video / photo recording.

Face Detection
 
 
Similar to Canon digital cameras, this features a face-tracking function coupled with high-speed AF to give you sharp-looking subject expressions even in profile mode.
Exposures are automatically adjusted in difficult situation such as low-lighting and backlit situations, giving you the best shots possible.
During playback, you can also choose to search a particular track based on the faces. The faces detected in each scene are displayed, so you can easily choose the right expression and person to playback at anytime.

Pre-recording
 
 
You can record video 3 seconds before you press the shooting button. With this feature, there will be no more missing shooting opportunities just because you cannot press the recording button in time!
The new camcorders are able to capture up to 3 seconds of pre-recording footage.

Support for x.v. Color
 
 
Displays colours that are impossible to capture or show using conventional video colour standards. You can enjoy a wider range of colours (as close as up to 1.8x) displayed on TV displays that supported x.v. Color.
